You start getting to that age where all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you put on extra weight. You try your regular diet and exercise regimen. Nothing works. The weight keeps creeping up. Sound familiar? It happened to me.
I am 52 years old and I just went through menopause within the last year. It was a year of hell. I’ll explain.
Hot flashes, insomnia, muscle aches and pains, joint pain, weight gain, brain fog, low energy, and the list goes on and on. I didn’t sign up for this. But it happened to me. What was even worse, I thought I was losing it. I felt my body aging. And it didn’t feel good. It hurt. I was hurting all the time. I was falling apart. A battery of tests confirmed: there is nothing wrong with me. I am a healthy aging female.
However, my lab results showed a different story. Not one that your family doctor will discuss. You have to see a hormone specialist for that. My hormone doctor confirmed it: I just went through full menopause. I completely depleted my testosterone and estrogen levels. The result? The symptoms I listed above. They are all related to hormone depletion. Yes, it is a normal stage of aging. But now, we no longer have to accept this as the norm. We can do something about it. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHT) is one option. You see the doctor, get your labs done, get them reviewed and then you get three bio-identical hormone pellet insertions a year (two for men). That’s it. Before you know it, your hormones get restocked and balance themselves out. The result?
You feel like yourself again! If you’ve been through it, you know what I mean. One day you look in the mirror and you ask yourself: who is this person? Where is the “Me” I once knew? I’ve got “Me” back. Happy, active, energetic. Losing weight again. Sharp, witty and pain? What pain? My body doesn’t hurt anymore. I’ve got my spunk back.
The bad part about all this? I have these services available to me at my own spa. I had already received a pellet in April of last year and then again in August. I was due for another one in December but I kept putting it off. I was feeling good. But not for long. In January, I was starting to see the weight gain. By February, I was miserable. I finally got my next pellet in March. One thing I know for sure, when my next pellet insertion is due, I won’t wait for the staff to call me. I will be calling to schedule it myself. Not to mention that our doctor, Dr. Michael Barber, is a gem. An OB/GYN by trade, he knows how women and men feel. He has heard it all. To improve their well-being is such a big reward. Of course, he is a hormone patient too. What about you? Isn’t time to get your “Me” back?
